Concept for the logo of the XXI Forum World Heritage and Dwelling on Earth by Carmine Gambardella
The concept for the logo of the XXI Forum “World Heritage and Dwelling on Earth” represents the Golden Section, the irrational number which governs the Universe. The Earth, the home of the known living species, is inscribed in the great cosmic dwelling. Within this dwelling, all the biodiversity that makes up the sphere of the living obeys to the same proportional principle that governs knowledge in its limitless expansion (numerus innumerus). The amazement aroused by limitless expansion is manifested in the growth of the leaf as in the observation of the deepest space. Therefore, the Golden Section is the home of creativity; the ongoing quest of living beings acting proportionally, all with their own abilities but at different scales, to make the environment that contains them ever more hospitable.
